Don Van Vliet visited the same high school like FRANK ZAPPA .
After a first band called the BLACKOUTS, he formed the MAGIC BAND in 1964.
First single Diddy Wah Diddy was released by A&M in 1966, after a 2nd single flopp, he
signed with the Buddah label in 1967 , which released the 1st and 2nd LP.
He joined ZAPPAs MOTHERS around the same time, so in 1969 he joined ZAPPAs
Straight label for TROUT MASK REPLICA (1968 = freeform Rock) and the follow up; a more light
version of TROUT MASK... with LICK MY DECALS OFF BABY in 1970.
From 1971 on he was with REPRISE releasing in 1972, two great psychedelic Bluesrock LPs.
When he changed label again in the mid 70s, this time to the english VIRGIN, the LPs became
more mainstream influenced.
