Ray Charles (1930-2004) started already recording in the late 40s and had some hits
before he signed with ATLANTIC in 1953.
Best known songs from this time maybe: MESS AROUND ; IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME
followed by #1 I GOT A WOMAN and all time classic and one of his most covered songs :
WHATd I SAY from 1959.
In late 1959 he signed with ABC Records , who gave him more freedom and fees.
So he hit the charts again with songs like: GEORGIA ON MY MIND & HIT THE ROAD JACK.
From 1962 on he went more commercial with his Country - Soul.
He acted in the cult film : The BLUES BROTHER from 1980.
