The WHO :
Started as the DETOURS in 1962, changed name to HIGH NUMBERS when Moon had replaced Dougie Sandon on drums,
shortly before the first single was recorded. By end of 1964 they changed name to The WHO.
First album was produced by Shel Talmy who worked with the KINKS too. In 1966 KIT LAMBERT took over as
manager and producer. The band played at all legendary early Rock-Festivals starting 1967 with MONTEREY;
followed by WOODSTOCK  in 1969 and  ISLE OF WIGHT.
In 1969 they released TOMMY a first rock opera, animated through the concept album S.F.SORROW from
the PRETTY THINGS.  TOMMY became a big success and had  release as  a Movie in 1975 too.
Next LP was the powerful LIVE AT LEEDS, before the release of  their masterpiece  WHOs NEXT in 1971.
With JOHN ENTWISTLE the band had one of the best bass players in rock to offer and with MOON a great
crazy drummer... this rhythm section was unbeatable. KEITH MOON who acted in films like STARDUST (1975)
and FRANK ZAPPAs  200 MOTELS (1971) died in Sept. 1978, to be replaced  by Kenny Jones (ex FACES )
