TURNER, IKE & TINA
[The Great Ike & Tina Turner (1960-1974)]

TURNER, IKE & TINA

Release 2000
Ike started as early as 1950 did recordings for the CHESS label.
From 1956 on he worked with LITTLE ANN  (Bulluck), later better known as TINA TURNER.
From 1960 onwards they are billed as IKE & TINA TURNER, they hit the US top 20 with
Its Gonna work out fine in 1961. In the mid 60s they started to work with PHIL SPECTOR,
who produced the album  and the single RIVER DEEP MOUNTAIN HIGH a flopp in the states
but a number 3 in the UK charts in 1966.
With PROUD MARY they got their first Top 10 hit in the USA stopping at place four,
then again it went quiet around them till the Tina Turner written songs NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS
hit 4 at the top 10 again.
Many of the songs in the 60s are written by IKE, who was also a good guitar player.
From 1974 on TINA went solo, and was to see at the film TOMMY from the WHO singing and
acting as the Acid Queen.
Till to get successful on their own she needed around 9 years and a little help from
HEAVEN 17 (BEF) in the UK. From end of the year 1983 till today she went from hit to hit,
showing her power in voice and acting on stage.
