Johnny Burnette (1934-1964) was a US Rockabilly singer today famous for being a member of The ROCK'N ROLL TRIO.
1952 he became a founding member of the RHYTM RANGER together with his brother Dorsey and Paul Burlison, in 1956
now stated in New York - they changed namde of the band to The ROCK'N ROLL TRIO when signed to CORAL Records.
Now with Tony Austin on drums they recorded 3 singles, which went nowhere.
With new bass player JOHNNY BLACK who replaced DORSEY they recorded some further singles and an album, but
again without success - so the band split by end of 1957.
Today the TRIO s recordings are cult and are very recommended - best remembered are THE TRAIN KEPT A ROLLIN
later recorded by the likes of The YARDBIRDS, MOTORHEAD and AEROSMITH to name only the best knowns.
In 1958 Johnny signed a first solo contract with FREEDOM a LIBERTY underlabel.
6 Singles later he had his first hit with DREAMIN in 1960, which reached the charts at No. 11.
A Year later the 45: YOURE SIXTEEN went to No 8 in the Billboard Hot 100.
Some smaller hits followed till GOD COUNTRY AND MY BABY reached No 18 and was his last hit-record.
He changed label in 1962 with CHANCELLOR Records and 1963 and 1964 with CAPITOL, but without countable success.
