Born in New Zealand MERRITT started with Rock'n'Roll  around 1956 had a local hit in 1958.
After two LPs and some 45s the band went to Sydney in Australia in 1964.
From end of the 1970 the group took a longer stay in the U.K., they returned in 1972.
In the mid 70s the band had a new contract with Arista  (2LPs) and from 1978 till split around
1980 they worked for the Polydor label; recording two further albums.
In the 80s Merritt recorded Solo.
In Germany they released one single as title melodie for the german TV-Serie 'Tatort'
