He did his first own recording in 1959, but became successful as songwriter for actors like: Bobby Vee;
Ricky Nelson; Roy Orbison or the Crystals first, before beginning his most successful time as a singer
(many ballads), from around 1963 till 1967.
He was and is a big influence on Beat- and Pop-Groups.
In 1988 Marc Almond from SOFT CELL covered successful : "Somethings gotten Hold Of My Heart ".
