MARK, JON
[Sally Free And Easy 1965 (2017) CD]

MARK, JON

Release 2017  -  NEW !!!   ..from original Master Tapes
- His unreleased acoustic Folk Album from 1965 + Bonus from Single (45) releases - Not unlike  Bert Jansch!!!

Jon Mark (born Jon Mark Burchell in the UK) was already active with some bands in the early 60s from the mid 60s on he
released solo singles on BRUNSWICK and PHILIPS.
The most remarkable was for me  the song NIGHT COMES DOWN written by Burchell & S.Talmy;
and recorded by Mickey Finn too; recorded as acoustic Folk-Blues.
In this time he worked also with MARIANNE FAITHFULL.
In 1968 he founded short lived band SWEET THURSDAY (incl. Alun Davies & Nicky Hopkins), which
lasted for one album and split in 1969. Mark became a member of JOHN MAYALLs experimental,
nearly acoustic Bluesband ..best known for hit : ROOM TO MOVE.
(I travelled with some friends from my hometown HOF /SAALE to MUNICH to see MAYALL with
his BLUESBREAKERs - Blues from Laurel Canyon was just released..but what a good surprise)
Here he met sax and flute player JOHNNY ALMOND (who had stints with Zoot Money, Alan Price
and even released solo Jazz-Albums) . They left MAYALL after recording two albums and
founded MARK-ALMOND together with Tommy Eyre (A.Dunbar, Riff Raff) and Roger Sutton.
First LP released  1971 by HARVEST in the UK and BLUE THUMB in USA the German market
got opened through KUCKUCK in 1974 releasing 3 albums in short time.
1st Solo LP recorded from 1974 to 1975 released in Germany 1977 after first split of MARK-ALMOND Group.
