Original name John Baldwin, he came from a musicians family and was active as
session-studio musician, arranger and producer.
His first solo single a surf - song  Baja  was released on Pye in 1964, at the same
time he was a member  of JET HARRIS & TONY MEEHAN.
he did sessions for the ROLLING STONES; DONOVAN; YARDBIRDS or JEFF BECK,
to name only a few.
From 1968 to 1980 he played bass & keyboards with LED ZEPPELIN.
After the band split he worked as producer for bands like R.E.M.; FOO FIGHTERS
or PETER GABRIEL, recorded 2 good progressive solo albums and the Soundtrack
SCREAM FOR HELP.
Since 2009 he is back on stage with THEM CROOKED VULTURES.
