WALKER BROTHERS, The
[Nite Flights (1978)]

WALKER BROTHERS, The

Formed in the USA in 1964 by Scott Engel  (Walker), who had recorded solo since 1958, he was with
JOHN STEWART in the ROUTERS and Tower Records released an LP on the high of The WALKER BROTHERS
success named: JOHN STEWART & SCOTT ENGEL - I Only Came To Dance With You.
In 1965 the band became successful mainly in Europe with 8 to 10  (dont know exactly) top 20 hits.
At this time they relocated to the UK.   With their driving harmonie vocals they gave rejoiced concerts in Europe and
Japan backed sometimes by musicians from the IVEYS (Badfinger).
After 3 LPs on Philips in the UK and Star Club in Germany, they split in  early  1968.
Gary Walker who had released some singles on different labels from 1966 till 1973 or 74 released under the name
GARY WALKER & The RAIN, a very rare and now looked after Popsike  album in Japan only,  backed by musicians
from BADFINGER .
John Walker released some singles and 2 albums on PHILIPS (1967)  and CARNABY (1969) all are into Pop-Ballads.

In 1974 they reformed for 3 further albums on GTO with the last NITE FLIGHTS  (1978) they produced a very
progressive album with Rock & Jazz elements, showing  their darker side, which  you will  find  in SCOTTs
later solo projects...till today.
They worked on NITE FLIGHT with musicians like Dave MaCrae, Big Jim Sullivan, Mo Foster, Peter von Hook and
Alan Skidmore to name a few.
