Frank Zappa - born 1940 together with his schoolmate DON VAN VLIET he founded a
first band called the BLACKOUT, back in the late 50s.
Around this time 50s & early 60s he wrote songs some recorded by his band The SOUL GIANTS.
In 1966 his new named band MOTHERS OF INVENTION signed to MGM-Verve and
released FREAK OUT (1966), a great psych influenced double album (must be one of..if not
the first double LP in Rock) produced by Tom Wilson.
This and the following albums, showed him as a musical forerunner ahead of his time.... mixing
psych-rock, Doo-Wop, orchester-parts, avantgarde uncluding jazz influences toped and
garnished by his great guitar playing and with his special lyrics.
In 1969 he established his own label Bizarre - Straight, producing and releasing other acts ,
