Born in 1951 as GORDON SUMNER - he joined his first band LAST EXIT in 1974
and recorded with them one single as lead singer.
In 1977 he became a founding member of the POLICE, which lasted very successful
till they split in 1983.
After that he first worked as film actor, before he started his solo career.
Already with his first solo LP: THE DREAM OF THE BLUE TURTLES, reached the
UK charts top 5 in 1985. He now mixed Rock, Pop with ethno and jazz influences.
