Born 1942 in Wales, he studied viola, piano & composition.
In the early 60s he moved to New York, where he met Lou Reed, together they founded
VELVET UNDERGROUND - he left after the 2nd album.
With the LP Vintage Violence he started his solo career - he also worked as session musician
and  did a lot of production work too  - with Stooges ; Iggy Pop ; Nico ; Patti Smith or the
Modern Lovers ..only to name a few.
