Hancock started in the early 60s in bands around DONALD BYRD & MILES DAVIS.
His first soloalbum TAKIN OFF recorded for BLUE NOTE and released 1962 included already
one of his best known and often covered number . WATERMELON MAN.
Other albums for BLUE NOTE which made him famous are MADEN VOYAGE (1965) and the
Soundtrack for BLOW UP.
From 1969 on he recorded for Warner Bros, and Columbia - now more electronic influenced.
And he was one of the first musician starting the Fusion scene - later on he included Funk &
Classical influences in his music too.
