(Begnadeter) Singer- SongwriterCat Stevens got signed to Deccas new progressive label DERAM in 1966,
maybe the first act to do so. First he got produced by MIKE HURST (ex-Springfields) later after his change
to ISLAND - Records in 1970, by former YARDBIRDs bass player PAUL-SAMWELL SMITH.
As a good songwriter from beginning on, his songs got covered, like The FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST by
P.P.ARNOLD, ROD STEWART and The KOOBAS or HERE COMES MY BABY by The TREMELOES.
All his albums on Island till 1974 went into the UK-Top 10, most of them around the world.
