Born in the UK McLAUGHLIN started his musician career in english R&B bands like GRAHAM BOND;
ALEXIS KORNER; DUFFY POWER; BRIAN AUGER or GEORGIE FAME .
He released a first solo album the recommended EXTRAPOLATION in 1969, followed
by Douglas LP DEVOTION in 1970. In the same year he got for a short time, member
of the TONY WILLIAMS LIFETIME, which led him to MILES DAVIS futured on his
remarkable fusion LPs IN A SILENT WAY and BITCHES BREW.
He then started with the solo album MY GOALS BEYOND his own Jazz-Fusion-World
formation supergroup MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA  (from 1972 till 1976).
Inbetween he released with SHAKTI mainly acoustic guitar but also from India influenced LPs.
For guitar freaks he was involved in some must have LPs recorded together  with the likes
from AL DI MEOLA; PACO DE LUCIA or LARRY CORYELL.
