Beside of FAIRPORT CONVENTION one of the first UK Folkrockers formed by
ex-FAIRPORT Ashley Hutchings, together with an english Folk-Duo
TIM HART & MADDY PRIOR and Irish members GARY & TERRY WOODS
(ex-SWEENEYS MEN) which lasted into the early 70s.
Hutchings formed a new band the ALBION COUNTRY BAND, and the Wood-Brothers
moved first to irish band DR.STRANGELY STRANGE before forming the WOODS BAND
and in the mid 70s releasing some albums as a Duo.
With MARTIN CARTHY joined a highly respected folk musician for the next 2 LPs and
with RICK KEMP (Ex & Pre-MICHAEL (Mike) CHAPMAN) joined a well known bass player.
Some fine albums followed till 1975, but with ALL AROUND MY HAT they went more and
more commercial. With many lineupchanges the band is still active.
MADDY PRIOR left in 1997 to rejoin in 2002, since 1978 she released solo Lps too,
backed by JETHRO TULL on her first solo WOMAN IN THE WINGS.
Other Side-projects are recordings as a member of the SILLY SISTERS (incl. June Tabor)
and with the CARNIVAL BAND.
