MOBY GRAPE
[The Place And The Time (1967-68) Rel. 2009]

MOBY GRAPE

Formed in late 66 by Bob Mosley  (ex-Misfits) & Peter Lewis (ex-Cornells), they got one of
the most loved San Francisco band when they relocated from San Diego & Los Angeles:
With a Columbia recording contract, they were the first band to get a really great Hyp from
the company, but lost them nearly all fans from the hippies.
First album with great heavy psych tracks like "Hey Grandma" & "Omaha" ;got covered by UK
groups like The MOVE & The MONTANAS too; was by far the best.
The original cover got on the index too & got retouched.
The next  two albums are also recommended.
After "69" they lost direction and spliting & re-united sometimes.
SKIP SPENCE released one very rare album "OAR" (not unlike Syd Barrett in sound)
released with Bonus on Sundazed .

Style: Heavy Psych; Bluesrock; leter Country influence too
