Very rare Vertigo Swirl LP ..UK & German versions on the same price level
formed as Mann-Hugg Blues Band by end of 1962, shortly after changed name to MANFRED MANN -
Named after the in South Africa born band-leader Manfred Mann (real name Lubowitz).
The group played mainly jazz tinged R&B, but took for the A-Sides of the single releases more pop
orientated songs.
The band was also known for their good Bob Dylan cover, that was followed in the Earth Band time too.
Around mid 66 Paul Jones was leaving the band with new singer Mike D Abo from A BAND OF ANGEL
the sound became more pop or popsike like.
The psychdelic influence is best heared by the Soundtrack : UP THE JUNCTION.
The Band split in 69 and was reborn some month later as "MANFRED MANNs CHAPTER 3" releasing
two very uncomercial; but great progressive Jazz-Rock LPs on the Vertigo Swirl label.
After the 2 albums flopped total the band split again and in 1972 Manfred came back with the EARTH BAND,
musicaly more into progressive Rock and Pop.
This Band was very successful till 1986/87 when they split again, only to get reformed some years later.
